Proud to host one of Jazz’s most formidable femme fatale Nicole Zuraitis on her shoot for album “Pariah Anthem” at Loft227.
Bottom line – No one can hold a candle to Nicole’s unparalleled musical virtuosity. If you’ve had the privilege of seeing her in action in anyone of NYC top live music venues, you have been tossing and turning since – bewitched by her tell-all lyrics and flawless melodies. You’ve been dripping with anticipation, counting down the days, eagerly trolling her facebook, scrolling through tweets for a release date for this much anticipated CD. From what you’ve heard live in songs like “Secret”, “Try Love”, and “Water Colors”, you know this album is going to dig deep.
Can Zuraitis deliver a 2013 with inspiration to spare?
Alas! Zuraitis left it all on the field in this sophomore album success; baring both body and soul for her listeners. To match her emotion filled music, this CD is be packed with equally powerful photos of Nicole Zuraitis’ haunting beauty and mystique. She is a vision. For those of us who follow her work, its a rare treat to get this up close and personal to a creature of the stage. Even drummer Dan Pugach and bassist Scott Colberg slipped into their Sunday best for this shoot… a sure sign this album is one for the record books.
With Photographer Marvin Joseph and Stylist Taylor Garrity shooting, Nicole has left no stoned unturned. Just when you think she’s flashed her last smile for the day, “Is there rooftop access”? Well, of course there is…. and I think she would agree it wouldn’t be Jazz without the rain.
Best put, Music Journalist and Photographer Eliseo Cardona wrote of Zuraitis, “‘That voice is so earthly, and here we are, like touching the sky.” I can’t think of any better words to describe the voice of Nicole Zuraitis, who performed (and indeed brought the house down) with her band at Rockwood Music Hall. Being the outsider to NYC that I am, I have learned to appreciate (and enjoy) the nonverbal reactions of listeners. Indeed, when you see someone not even changing positions in a chair, or breathing carefully in order not to miss a note… that’s when you know a concert is operating its magic. Who can doubt it? Everyone there was touching the sky with Nicole’s voice.” (Sept 2012)
I couldn’t agree more. Thank you to Nicole, Dan, and Scott for shooting here with us at the loft. As a fan, I don’t think it gets any more awesome than this.
